All Aboard for Christmas

The evening opens with the sparkling brilliance of Laura Nobili’s Overture, setting the stage for Handel’s elegant Harp Concerto in B-flat, Op. 4 No. 6, brought to life by acclaimed harpist Rita Costanzi* with grace and poise. She returns for Samuel Rousseau’s Pastoral Variations, a lyrical and evocative gem that showcases her exquisite artistry. Vaughan Williams’ English Folk Song Suite (final movement) bursts with rustic charm, while Prokofiev’s Troika whisks us into a brisk Russian sleigh ride. Strauss’s lively Tritsch-Tratsch-Polka follows, adding spirited Viennese flair before the Vancouver Bach Choir joins for The Polar Express, capturing the wonder and magic of the season. The celebration concludes with Leroy Anderson’s beloved A Christmas Festival and a joyful selection of carols, bringing the evening to a radiant, heartwarming close.
